Reflection Week 2

In week two I learned there are several action research projects that go on at schools that I would have never considered as action research. I think of staff development, data desegregation and other group meetings we have at our school just things we have to do. In reality though all of these things can be turned into or used as an action research to better your school or try and resolve a problem you have. One of the things I liked the most is when they said to not "reinvent the wheel" if people have studies and research out there that can assist you then use these things. Don't try and be the hero working yourself to exhaustion when there are other people who have been there and offer their information for your benefit. I think that action research has a lot more dimensions to it than I thought when I began this class last week, and I feel it can be truly beneficial if it is used correctly and in a way that helps your campus grow and reach your end goal of success.

First Blog...

What Action Research means to me...

Action research is a highway to solving an issue or issues that have become a concern for all or some stakeholders on your campus. You can put together a group of people to assist with this inquiry, as it will give you more perspectives on how to start your research and come up with a plan to resolve the issue. By gathering data and analysis along with researching different articles or case studies on people who have dealt with issues the same or similar to yours you will be able to get several insights that will allow you to begin the process. I feel that I as an upcoming administrator will be able to use and help current administration use action research by getting involved in issues that they currently feel are a reoccurring problem that needs some solutions. I am currently on a safe and civil team for my school and we go to several trainings a year that have researched several of the common areas of concern in schools. It gives each of us ideas that we can bring back to our administrators and other teachers and draft different ideas on how they are similar or different to ours and what we can do to get the end result that they did. It has also helped me see the importance of researching what others have done because you are able to see ideas you may not have thought of.

How Educational leaders may use blogs....

I believe blogs are a great way for educational leaders to read and share their ideas with others because the more valuable information you are able to attain and learn from the better leader you will be able to become.
